      This course aims at providing concrete understanding and practical knowledge of response strategies, techniques and equipment in case of accidental oil pollution in inshore areas.


      By the end of the course, participants will be able to select appropriate equipment for the specific risks on their site and to define the operational tactics and procedures required for its deployment, as well as participate in the drafting of a contingency plan.

      • Behaviour of oil spilled in the marine environment

      • Oil containment and recovery

      • Shoreline clean-up site organisation

      • Clean-up of different kinds of shores

      • Use of dispersants, sorbents and other response products

      • Waste treatment and disposal

      • Case studies

      • Exercises on the definition and organisation of shoreline response operations

      • Practical exercises with the release of real oil in the test tanks at Cedre: equipment for response on water, shoreline clean-up.

      All the lectures will be given by an expert from Cedre and followed up with an exercise involving the deployment of specialised equipment or the use of a particular technique or response product.
